A 6 days gorilla and chimpanzee trekking safari sets you on a journey to explore the many primate species in Uganda. There are over 20 primate species with the mountain gorilla being the most popular. We will see them in Mgahinga National Park, where silver meets gold. The endangered Golden Monkey which you will not find in any other park also resides here. About 180 bird species call this National park home for instance the Albertine rift notaby, Kivu ground thrush and Turraco. Mgahinga National Park is located in Kisoro district, Southwestern Uganda.

This 6 days gorilla and chimpanzee trekking safari will also reward you with chimpanzees in Kibale National Park. It is located in Kyenjojo district. It is the primate capital of Uganda with about 13 species on the premises. Besides the chimps, you are going to see very many other primates like red-tailed monkeys, L-Hoest monkeys, black and white colobus monkeys, olive baboons and so many others. It is also a haven for birding. On this 6 days gorilla and chimpanzee trekking safari, you will also visit the medley of wonders, Queen Elizabeth National park for gamedrives and boat cruise. Here you will see various wild animals like the lions, elephants, hippos, Nile crocodiles among others. You will also visit Semuliki National Park and see the male and female hot springs. This safari is ideal for wildlife and nature enthusiasts.

Itenary

Day 1: Transfer to Kisoro, Great Lakes Museum
Pick you up from the hotel / residence at 08:00 am and set off for your journey to the
west along Masaka road. Then have lunch at a restaurant in Mbarara town. Continue
your journey to Kisoro with a stop at the Great Lakes Museum and see beautiful art
pieces that explain a lot about Ugandan history. Listen to the fascinating stories of
Kigezi culture.
Then travel to Mgahinga National Park situated in Kisoro District, check in on arrival.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking, Golden monkeys

After having breakfast, go for the exciting gorilla trekking experience in Mgahinga, with
packed lunch from the hotel. See the endangered gorilla families live in their troops.
Learn how they feed, live among themselves. And how the environment favors their
livelihood. This activity is also ideal for birders, as you'll see various bird species as well.
After, trek the beautiful, endangered and rare golden monkeys. Spend an hour with
them in their habitat, see how they feed, live among themselves and survive in the
wilderness.
Day 3: Batwa community visit, transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After a very early morning breakfast, visit the primitive Batwa community. Have a one-
on-one with them and enjoy the traditional dance performance which you can choose to
take part in. After, retire from the tiresome day at the hotel.
Then transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park located in Kasese district, with lunch
enroute. Check in on arrival. After relaxing, go for an evening game drive in the Kasenyi
and witness a bunch of wildlife species like elephants, lions, baboons etc.
Day 4: Gamedrive, boat cruise and Kikorongo equator and transfer to Fort
Portal.
Have an early morning sumptuous breakfast and immediately go for another fulfilling
gamedrive. Watch these animals as they kick off their blankets. On your way back to the
hotel, stop by the scenic and appealing Kikorongo equator monument for a
photographic session.
Have lunch and go for yet another wildlife experience on the Kazinga Channel boat
cruise. See aquatic animals for example hippos, nile crocodiles among others. Plus views
of the Kasenyi plains. Checkout and head to Fort Portal city, check-in on arrival and
warm up for the next exciting day.
Day 5: Chimpanzee trekking, Semuliki National Park.
After breakfast, go for Chimpanzee tracking in Kibaĺe National Park, the home of
primates. As you move through the woods looking for the chimps, you will see so many
inherent primates like monkeys, baboons. You will be amazed by the way chimps are
human-like, very intelligent.
After lunch, depart to Bundibugyo district to visit Semuliki National Park. Have a nature
walk and see the male and female hot springs which are surrounded with very beautiful
views. Listen to the fascinating history and cultural beliefs linked to the hot springs. Get
to naturally boil some eggs in the hot water, and a free sauna.

Day 6: Amabere ga Nyinamwiru, transfer to Kampala.
Have breakfast and check out of the hotel. Visit the beautiful scenic Amabere caves and
waterfalls,in Nyakasura. After a short nature walk, you will see the stalactites and
stalagmites, behind which is a contradictory geographical-cultural history. However
both are convincing and fascinating. After the heartwarming experience, head back to
Kampala via Kyenjojo with lunch enroute.
Arrive in Kampala in the evening exhausted, but also full of memories worth telling a
friend.
